CEO Interview
Hello.
This is Junho Park, the CEO of Pitter Petter.
What is Pitter Petter?
Pitter Petter is a company that researches, develops, and operates solutions for managing pet health using biodata. For guardians who wish to understand their pet's discomfort or health issues in advance, we aim to serve as their eyes and ears through objective data analysis.
Why Did You Launch Genetic testing?
During my graduate studies in biomedical informatics, my first cat, Kami, crossed the rainbow bridge due to a kidney tumor. Despite researching the genetic background of cancer in humans, I deeply regretted not being able to understand Kami’s condition better. I blamed myself and even misplaced blame on others, but I eventually realized that honoring Kami meant contributing to prevent other guardians from experiencing the same pain. Together with a veterinarian senior from university—a close friend for 15 years—and a fellow researcher in drug development, we explored ways to enable proactive health management for pets. After much thought, we concluded that genetic testing was the most effective solution, leading us to develop and launch this service.
Why is Genetic Testing Important?
Genetic testing is essential because it allows us to identify inherited genetic risks in advance. Unlike humans, pets face a higher risk of genetic diseases due to frequent selective breeding for preferred traits. By analyzing DNA through genetic testing, you can uncover potential risks specific to your pet. Pitter Petter goes beyond simply providing test results—we deliver a comprehensive health management guide. This includes clear instructions on recognizing early symptoms or signs, identifying ongoing tests needed at veterinary hospitals, and outlining how to proactively manage your pet’s health. This ensures that guardians have the tools to take informed action for their beloved companions.
What Values Does Pitter Petter Strive to Deliver?
At Pitter Petter, we hope that everything feels approachable and not overwhelming for guardians. Genetic testing can sometimes seem complex, technical, and distant, but our mission is to make pet care simpler and more accessible for you. We aim to make explanations easy to understand and encourage you to ask any questions without hesitation. We want to be close to you in your journey of caring for your pet. As a guardian myself, I know that caring for a pet can often feel like a lonely responsibility. Pitter Petter is here to be your closest partner in caring for your beloved pet.
